awaraagard 0 Posted September 26, 2006 young professional dancers come from Lahore at Kirsal festival. they perform devotional dances on sufi music mostly & pray 4 increase in prosperity. audience throws currency in jubilation & appriciation of dancers' beauty & performance. throwing currency is a matter of ego satisfaction among elite of the area 2 show their superiority in wealth & 2 attract the dancers 4 more amorous adventures. dancers show a carefree attitude towards money & never pick currency notes scattered all over the place. proceedings occur in vast & overcrowded compound of a traditonal Haveli in poor light. audience sits in semi cricles on carpets & synthetic mats. elite relax on rugs with cushions & perfumes. festival starts after sunset & goes on till dwan. comments/ critique/ ratings welcome. awaraagard 0 Posted September 26, 2006 it was tough 2 stand on a 20 ft high roof, camera mounted on a tripod. i waited 4 the video light 2 move in closer, it lengthened the shadows but gave me enough time 2 get better exposure. the only issue was perspective. i tilted the tripod several inches 2 control perspective. this was the best i could get. Karl Schuler 48 Posted September 26, 2006 Good perspective. Interesting setup. Attractive colours. And it is of course part of the cultural identity of some parts of Pakistan, but not of others ;-) Karl Link to comment
