Both are good, but the orange is really striking and I think that it gives this version the edge.

I of course will side with the color. I don't mean to imply I would always do so as I actually am a big fan of the B&W but in this instance the orange plays a unique and key role that is lost with B&W. (for me anyway)

Orange in and of itself is not an aesthetic principle.

 

This is largely a 1/3 orange balancing 2/3 blue (1/3 shade balancing 2/3 tint) roughly, tied together losely with the light poles.

Nathan, Kent, Barry, and Tom, thanks for your comments. I also prefer the color version (I'm usually partial to b&w). Funny how the ratings are so much higher for the b&w one!
