steve foster 0 Posted September 21, 2006 The photograph is pin sharp, and well exposed. The composition needs a lot of work though. There are lots of distractions in the photo and the subject is not particularly exciting, but good attempt. Link to comment
james_kellar1 0 Posted September 23, 2006 Steve, Thanks for the comments, but I must disagree about what you call "distractions". I believe you are talking about post and the walkway on the right of the out building. I believe that what makes the image. I like to get what around my subjects environment. The purpose of my photography is to photograph subjects that most photographers would not even take a second look at. In doing so I try to make what you call "not particularly exciting" beautiful and interesting. I sure would like to here what other think. Take a look at some of the work of William Eggleston. steve foster 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Hi James, I see your points, but I would say that you have so many better pics in your portfolio, much better in my opinion. This is just not to my taste but alot of your work is. And just because it isn't to my tastes doesn't mean that others won't like it. I hope you didn't take my criticism to hard. I always say what I see. In fact looking at your portfolio you have many photos I wouldn't hesitate in giving 6s and 7s to. Just not this one!! All the best Steve Link to comment
james_kellar1 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Steve, Thanks for all your kind words. No I didn't take our criticisms hard. In fact just the opposite. I like all discussion about my images, good or bad. What I hate is that so many give my images a rating, but then don't tell me why the gave mea score. It's refreshing to hear some one tell how they feel. When I joined Photo.net I was hoping for more prudent criticism about my and other work. Link to comment
