jeroen wesdorp 0 Posted September 23, 2006 Hi Karen, what would you like to know? This is a fine photo! All nice quiet (boring?) suburban atmosphere, subdued colours, lines to wander around the picture with and great details to see. Free association: a bit like Edward Hopper. And at least to me a new take on a skyline shot, which would be cool anyway since we don't really have skylines here anyway ;) So I like it! Like much of the entire folder, especially DE4. And good to know I'm not the only one photographing doors and walls... Regards, Jeroen Link to comment
Alex_Es 388 Posted September 29, 2006 I totally understand this image. You can call it "Look at Main Street as it Dies." This is a small town being consumed by the big city, corporate capitalism, globalism and all that. Gads. I a quiet suburban street with absolutely no human life. I see not one pedestrian. The brick wall with the washed-out ad is powerful. The sunshades over the red building shade no one. The street light with the red hand is a scream. There is no traffic. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Link to comment
stupski 0 Posted November 19, 2006 It's so refreshing to find someone shooting real city life scenes such as this. So typical of the outlying areas of so many larger cities, yet these areas are full of color, unique architecture and personality - even without people. Wonderful Karen. This has a painterly feel to it. Would you mind telling how you finished it off to get this effect? Link to comment
