Slightly cropped version. I was shooting a bee while this one flew to

the same flower. :-) Well I got two close-up portraits. What do you

think about this one? Too unsharp? Too close? This was shot by using

the reversed Sigma 24mm lens in the Nikon D50-body. That way I can

get quite nice magnifications... Thank you for viewing.

Thank you very much for your very kind words! I just checked your portfolio and it has some of the very best macro-images I have ever seen. Mine are humble compared to those. I have photographed for quite some time, started over 20 years ago, but it has been an on/off hobby because of the economical investments and other limiting things. So, I shoot allmost everything, but this macro-enthusiasm I found a little more than a month ago.

Well, to this photo. I shoot these handheld just because of the very narrow depth of field, just like your photos too. I used a Sigma 24mm f:2,8 lens reversed straight into the camera body. Aperture was f:11 and exposure time was 1/160 seconds. I used the cameras own flash with 1/2 the power. As I said in the original text, this is slightly cropped version, but not that much. The bug was about 5-6 cm from the front lens... Perhaps 7 cm, but not more. The lens was focused to infinity.

If you browse the macro-images folder on my portfolio, you can find more of my learning shots. Some are cropped most are done just the same way as this one. The one with a spider having a meal and the "Bee having a meal" photos are uncropped and show the maqnification quite well. The spider was about an 1 cm body length and less than a cm wide. The bee is just a normal european honey bee, perhaps 2-2,5 cm long body. Perhaps the best maqnification comes from the "Hopeless"-photo. The bug in it is only about 1mm wide and 2mm long. I have cropped about 1/3 from the left side of the image, but nothing from the height.

Oh my, this is rather long answer. I do hope that you can understand my poor english and dont get tired on reading such a novel. :-)
