I do not see a problem with the tonal range, but everything depends on your taste. What do you have in mind. There are books that addres this subject in much more depth than I can here. Anyway, what youcould do is select the low cantrast part of her with a soft brush, avoiding the hi-lites. Then in levels or curves you can play with the contrast, probably push it up a little. See if that is what you have in mind. I would probably also avoid the corners, and sides, so the part with the face gets more punch, and attention.

Thnaks for your suggestions. I think your suggestion about a tighter crop is quite valid especially about the burnt-up right sleeve. I will definitely try that out. I did play with level, curve and channel mixer but seems could not find a perfect contrast/range that I want. I do like the color tone though. Thanks again for your input.

Jerry, I have not see this before the modification, but it seems to me the tonal range is working in this version. Very lovely and intense portrait.
