cherlyn 1 Posted September 15, 2006 Sometimes memory can be sad. Walking past a neglected building that is once beautiful makes one feel what modernisation has done to these 'historical' architecture. I have also upload a B/W version with more painting effect. Feedback most welcome. http://c18.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=1882920&java=0&security=ec185ce9&invisible=1 Link to comment
hanna_v 0 Posted September 15, 2006 hard choice. I like the effect in the b&w pic, but I prefer this lovely old coloring here. not overdone, so one can let his/her mind wander... into the picture, into past and future and into your thoughts you described in your comment. what about a cropping at the bottom? just over the green gate? daily_photograph 0 Posted September 15, 2006 Strong the dashes of intense colour (so the question is answered as well :-)) You have to live with the wires, but not with the rest of the gate, right? Link to comment

davidorea 1 Posted September 16, 2006 Both photos are great, Cherlyn. But I prefer the color image. Nice and quite original composition with excellent colors. Very good viewpoint and contrast. Best regards! Link to comment

alexandra rauh 0 Posted September 16, 2006 Cherlyn, i see the b&w came out well, but i think there is a special charm with the green and the rust.I love the sentimental feeling of past . Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted September 16, 2006 I'll go with the color version. The faded colors and the cracked masonry really carry the melancholy feel. Lovely shot. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted September 16, 2006 I prefer the color version, Cherlyn, with its desolate, appealing attraction. Link to comment
jim_hoffman 1 Posted September 16, 2006 I prefer the colour version too and I agree with Hanna about the cropping! Greetings,Jim Link to comment

blackdogstudio 1 Posted September 16, 2006 Great angle for a great composition that preserves image depth. The muted pastels are a nice touch to an otherwise almost "monochromatic" scene. Love the "Twin Doorway". As you know, I have a great weakness of colour... Excellent work. Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted September 16, 2006 A fine image, Cheryln . . . I think the muted color palette with the subtle touches of color do impart a sense of nostalgia. . . I also like the fact that you included another dimension by including the lower level of the building. . . the wires add a sense of discord which I think works well here. . . Link to comment

schneekranich 0 Posted September 16, 2006 colour for me as well - I'm abnormally attracted to such places, I even like them most in this rotten, lonesome, storytelling state. Link to comment
