Oyster bed

I thought I would look at a portrait orientation of this subject.

What do you think?

Definitely stronger in the portrait format; it lends itself better to the long form of the oyster posts (?) in the picture. I like it a lot - the lack of color, simplistic composition both work. The bird on the last post makes the picture, though imho. Kudos on a nice shot.

your angle let the shown-up parts well-distributed in the photo, and leading to your well-posed bird. the tones are likely. good shutter speed as well.

Yup, this ones the puppy, perhaps consider a crop that places the bird at thirds?

Ben, I'll have a look at that 1/3 crop, but I think I'll have to remove the bottom of the frame to acheive it. The far side of the "claire" was just above the gull.

 

I'll see what I can do.

I agree this one is the stronger shot. I like the little variations presennted by the timbers and the odd bird sitting on them. The diagonal composition works too ending with that useful seagull.

Great perspective. I like the colors...on my monitor it is almost sepia tone. I like the shot better this way as well.
