cherlyn 1 Posted September 14, 2006 I have attempted many shots on this sport but couldn't get them sharp. I am so bad in action photos & would appreciate very much some tips on how to manage action shots. This is the best shot I got. Appreciate your guidance. http://c18.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=1879881&java=0&security=c0067b1b&invisible=1 Link to comment

kahkityoong 0 Posted September 15, 2006 I shot a few sports shots at the Commonwealth games and learnt a bit. The problem is that the scene is lacking a little in excitement; there's not that much 'action' in it and less DOF would be better. One of the problems shooting travel photography & landscapes was using too small apertures when I tried sport. Try some panning too. Link to comment

blackdogstudio 1 Posted September 17, 2006 It was a superb effort Cherlyn. Love the angle of the tow-rope - waiting for him to be whisked out of the water at any second!!! Excellent freezing of motion and very good sharpness! Your efforts paid off very well! If you really like this type of photography you may consider renting a longer telephoto e.g. 300mm/F2.8 to fill your frame and compress & blur the background further, making your subject "pop out" of the frame. Also, you can consider "panning" for a different feel. But, this is very nice as is!!! Excellent work. Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
