Playing in PSCS with different adjustment filters. This one appears a

little green on my monitor. Please give me some honest feedback on

the color, composition, lighting, etc. Honesty is requested, fluff

not required.

Thinking of printing this one on canvas. Is it warm enough? Or should

I warm the color a bit? Would appreciate opinions on warmth of color

especially. Thanks

Jayme, the photo looks wonderful to me. The frame is really good as well as the crop. I think her skin tones are good as well. I dont think it needs any work. Blow it up and hang it! Ester

Thanks Ester :) My monitor has been giving me fits! For some reason it looks a little too green to me :( I'm going to print it & see how the print looks. Maybe my eyes are a bit off :)

It's looking a little green on my monitor too. Especially in the highlights on her hair and in the shadow area of her hand.

Jayme - I am sooo happy you are back posting! I've missed seeing your work/ideas. When I received the call to photograph the little girl with her cast, I immediately thought of this girl your atti-dude shots. Being only 18 months, I wasn't able to capture the same type of images but I'm glad I had yours in my head for reference. As far as this shot, it does look a little blue/green to me but I tend to favor the more red/orange tones more than I should. I like the close crop and highlights in her hair.

Jayme...

I too am glad to see you back and posting up new work!

I like the square format and frame it works well with this picture, there is some green in the highlights of her hair like others have said. Great expression you caught. I'm sure it will look great in print and whoever hangs it on their wall will be very please to have it.

It doesn't look green to me, either. If you're concerned about it, you can probably just touch up the highlights in the top of her hair, but I wouldn't have looked at it if you hadn't said it. And it's nice and warm for my taste. It would look lovely on canvas!

Hi Jayme, first off this is a cute pose and I like the fairly tight composition.

I just recalibrated my monitor a few days ago. I think there is a little green there in the upper right corner but I think it's okay. The power of suggestion is an amazing thing. When I first looked at the shot I just admire it for it's composition and deep rich color. After I read your comment, I did notice the green. But it's subtle and I really don't see any color cast over the little girl's face. Maybe the hair and background combination sort of suggest a cast that isn't really there. Does that make any sense at all? Not sure.

I hope your wrist/hand is all healed up now.

Biswajit- Thank you :) After I write this response I want to check out your new abstracts. At first glance I find them extremely interesting :)

Pat-Thanks, we must have similar monitor settings. I also see the same thing.

Emily- Thanks for the welcome back. I've been around, in the background, but after a brief encounter with Brian, I backed off. It was not an ugly encounter, just a thought provoking encounter. He seemed to feel I was influencing others negatively. I disagreed, but risked being banned from the feedback forum. So I decided to keep a low key. It kind of took the joy out of PN for a while. But I decided the heck with it :) I lost my sense of humor for about 10 seconds! But because I thought he might be right, I decided to hang back. Geez.... Now it appears he has quit & Philip has taken back the reins. He must have been in his last days. High stress, I know that feeling :)

Jim- Thanks, I will be printing this on canvas then add a paint over texture (which I think I will apply myself). Not that nasty, swirly texture, but more of a subtle, crackle aged look :) It will be an experiment. I love experiments :)

Joe- Thank you for the lovely comment.

Amar- I really appreciate your observations & comments. Thank you.

Jamie- The wrist is 100%. Thanks for asking :) It makes a good weather forecaster too. A day before any major weather changes, it's gets a little sore. Presto.....weather forecaster. I kind of like this :)I just can't get my monitors in sync. I have two good monitors & several at my husband's office that are just so,so. It never ceases to amaze me, how different the same image looks on a different monitor. I tend to trust the one I consider the best, I may be wrong :( But I agree with you completely about the green cast. Anyone got any suggestions about getting rid of it. I tried the "color balance", I tried the "selective color". In selective color it seems it's more of a "yellow" green than absolute green. Nothing was really acceptable to my eyes. I tired only changing certain areas in layer masks, etc. I may just be resigned to it. I enjoy Vermeer, most of which have a green cast to me. Must have been the final varnish?

Thanks to all for commenting, at least I now know my eyes are not fooling me:)

Hello Jamie, glad to see you're posting again! Like some of the others I see a bit of green in the hair but you definitely need to print it and see how it looks. I did try to adjust it and came up with something different but not nessarily better.

Great shot, the mother will be pleased!

I didn't take notes but I played with levels a little, reduced greens and adjusted reds. I also played with shadow/highlight a bit. I think lowering the overall saturation a bit would compensate for the increase in reds and give her skin a more natural look, I guess I was tired when I tried it yesterday.

If you like children with lots of character, here's one you'd love to work with in a studio setting!

Thanks Andre- She looks like a real character. I love kids with that "spark" you just can't miss. They are our future :) I feel good about that!

Great to see you back, Jayme! Yes, a little green to me, too, but not bothersome. I like the expression and subtle lighting. Very nice!

It is too greenish on her hair and shadow below her hand dear Jayme IMHO :)

The composition is good, but I would like to see her Eyes :)

You are right Biliana, I see the green on my monitor. I am trying to clear this up before I print. I still haven't printed this one. As for the eyes, I had so many of her with her beautiful, sparkling eyes, this on was a contrast worth keeping. :) Maybe a raise eyebrow would have added some more interest :)

Hi Jayme, Glad you are back. It is slightly green in my CRT monitor but it looks fine on my LCD. I found that most of the LCD monitors won't hold cal like the Graphic CRTs. So we use duel monitors one each. It gives me a lot more room to work on the picture also. Nice picture by the way. Are you riding that bike yet? Bill
