awesome poze, but there is no water at the bottom of the frame to add some drama to it. A split second later the water would be in view and there would be some idea as to how high he is, which will add real action i think. Of course, i have yet to do take this shot and so can only guess at how difficult it may be. Just my general observation then.

Kenneth thanks so much for your words of wisdom. I will take your advice and run with it.

 

I really enjoy your bird photographs. They can be tricky - for me anyway, I haven't had a lot of success with our feathered friends. You've inspired me to go out and try again. I love the clarity and action of this shot. It's a pity he's not diving toward you though - that would have been awesome.

 

I saw hundreds and hundreds of geese the other day, taking it easy in a yellow field full of hay bales. It was just coming on dusk and the sky was amber. They were periodically flying south in arrow formation. I was driving with a friend who was in a hurry so I didn't get a chance to stop and take pictures. It was a breathtaking scene. They were gone the next time I drove by and I'll be kicking myself forever. Who knows when or if there'll be another opportunity for such an amazing sight. I'm glad I got to see them though.

THANKS DAN AND T.POLAK FOR YOUR COMMENTS. DAN, WHEN YOU ARE THIS CLOSE TO THESE GUYS, THERE IS NO WAY TO CATCH THE HEIGHT OF THE DIVE UNLESS YOUR A WAYS OFF. THEN IT WOULD LOOK LIKE A SPEC. BUT YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE WATER, IT WOULD ADD TO THE SHOT. I WAS GOIN' FOR HEIGHT WHICH MADE ME CHOSE THE TREE TOPS. THEN I LOST HIM CLOSER TO THE WATER, SO I MISSED THAT SHOT.
