Expresion italiana que significa "arte pobre" y que define una corriente estetica aparecida en Turin hacia 1967 como reaccion frente al arte tradicional en la medida en que este es considerado bello y de materiales nobles.

 

El arte povera se vale de objetos del desecho o sin valor real ni artistico, triviales y ajenos a denominaciones como bello, hermoso o exquisito. Se propone dar valor a estructuras primarias conseguidas con materiales groseros y hasta repulsivos, pero siempre intentando dotarles de un espiritu poetico. Para ello trata de llevar la atenci�n del espectador hacia aspectos cotidianos anonimos y rutinarios a los que nunca se habia atribuido ninguna cualidad artistica, pero sobre todo se define como contrapeso de la cultura tradicional, a la que considera inalienable y cerrada a la averiguacion de las nuevas perspectivas revolucionarias.
