mbrown 1 Posted December 30, 2001 Yet another portrait. I have done a little softening work in P/S. Please critique and rate. Link to comment
chris_chedgzoy 0 Posted December 30, 2001 I do like B&W portraits. Nicely done and not over used PS. Nice to see a differnet framing of the subject (top left) I think it works well. Great shot. Chris Link to comment
tomsperduto 0 Posted December 30, 2001 It seems to me every time I see a gorgeous B/W portrait like this the same film is being is used. I think I'll have to pick some up! Great positioning of your subject also. Link to comment
alex_lau 0 Posted December 30, 2001 I love this image. Very sharp and yet the skin tone is soft. I like the way she look, facing you but don't look into you. Very deep.I wonder if croping in closer on the right will be better.I also like the way the maker put the artificial picture frame. I probably would not put the name of the model right at the dead center of the lower frame though.Very nice work.DreamMaker Link to comment
John G. 0 Posted December 30, 2001 Hi Michael; Your portraits show a progression of learning which is inspiring. For any photographer wanting to learn how to light studio portraits, I think your workspace offers insight into experimentation, common sense, effort, and advancement. Between lighting and rapport with the subjects, I give you seven-and-halves on a scale of one to ten. Add an extra half point for getting a variety of good looking models in. I've seen you experiment with the lighting fine, if I may suggest you relax that, and go back to the interaction with the models. My personal experiance is that adjusting my lights causes me to lose my models attention and interest. So I usually set up my lighting before the model sits down, and if the light is a little off, I let it go. Much more important that I capture an idea and emotion than to have perfect lighting. I shoot first, adjust, and then shoot some more. That's where I'm at, anyway, do you relate to that? Just me babbling my two cents. "Everyone has a right to my opinion" -Archie Bunker Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 17, 2004 Beautiful face and nicely exposed. The thing which impressed me the most is the use of light to your advantage. Lovely skin tone and good PS work too. As I had commented on one of your portraits, I simply love catchlight in the eye. Superb.... Kindest regards. Link to comment
