usually stay away from portrait/people shots, but lately I've been

I like your placement - gray hair against the dark doorway, dark hair against the white, nice detail, hands in the picture. Really caught my eye. More dramatic than most family pictures.

This is a nice portrait. The black & white adds a certain mood to this photo that color wouldn't have captured. I like it.

I would have moved the camera down a little, to lessen the empty space at the top of the man's head and also included the little girl's hands completely.
