Armadillo vs Koi

Thanks for your comments on my Under the Golden Gate photo. They were quite helpful. In this photo, I like how the colors of the fish contrast with the armadillo. They look like they might be having a conversation. Is there anyway to bring out the colors in the rock?

I'm not sure how to go about doing it, actually- perhaps catch light at a different angle. With the current photo, darkening the shot makes the water too dark. Varying exposure would have similar results. Looks like it was partly cloudy at the time, maybe even cloudier would help. The armadillo is a statue, the koi are always in that little pond, although not always at that place. This was sort of a spur of the moment shot.
