Excelente imagen, perfecta luz y composicion.

Well-seen and captured. Yes, beautiful light. Too bad the people are in the road though. Did you take another exposure a minute later, after they'd walked out of the frame?

This is a very powerful picture. Excellent composition. Almost a masterpiece. But the halo around the castle gives some feeling of cheap photoshopping and the high contrast in the clouds distract from the details in the lower part of the photo. This could be easily fixed to make it a real masterpiece. Thanks for accepting my critique. Karl

Adeu noi!

Fantastic light and sky. It's a really minor point but although including people here's probably beneficial from a scale point of view, I personally find the group of people on the right distracting from the mood of the picture in this case.

Still a great shot overall though.

Superb light and colors, nearly perfect exposure (red channel is clipped in some parts of the sky - minor issue). Artfully composed. I tried to imagine the shot without the humans, I guess it is better with than without them. Of course, less modern styling would be perfect... I see what Karl means: a corollary of the brightness gradient of the sun area behind the castle ? Or really dodging there ?

I would certainly put this easily in the top drawer of your castle shots - magnificent! The sky is perfect and the light on the castle gives a brooding feeling. To me the foreground fgures are right aesthetically in giving scale and another point of interest in the composition. They are also in the time-honoured tradition of the 'picturesque' as seen in landscapes from the Enlightenment period of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Here it was said that landscapes should always include either animals or humans to give scale and so a sense of the sublime. The artists textbooks of the time even specified that three was the ideal number of figures. I see you have opted for 5! The light on the distant landscape is very good too as it throws the dark mass of the castle hill into the foreground. My congratulations and admiration!

Your support is very important to me since I came back home from this castle hunting expedition with a severe bout of flu and coughing that's sent me into bed. I might be getting too old to climb castles...

The analysis of Colin and Guillermo Labarca are very interesting. I favour, lately, the inclusion of people in my photos of castles -if I have the opportunity- since it not only gives a sense of scale but reminds us of what these powerful structures meant in terms of sufferings to the serfs of their lords.

I feel that these are enough arguments to explain to Kurt Kramer that he's wrong in his advice.

Hmm... I gelt that the people are an essential part of the picture composition. The rolling clouds are dramatic and portray the dynamics of time. The castle is a military fortification, possibly covered with blood in

ancient times. But the common people walking leisurely and happily towards the camera in peace and harmony are really the element that pulls this picture together - things are well, take it easy, life goes on...

The light is magic here Alberto, the color variation of the castle and sky are well uniting the image. I like the people in one side and the lower landscape behind ( LL). The dramatic sky is a wonderful connection to the dominant castle. Composition is full of majesty.
