jamie_stevenson 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I really like this shot - I like the fact that the head is in the light and the body is in the shadow - helps draw my eye to the birds head and eye! Nice DOF. Would be interested in how you got the shot? For example did you use what I believe is called a focus trap - I have been reading today about focus traps and using continuous focus where the focus tracks the subject. Photos like this strike me as really difficult to successfully take - pretty impressed!! Cheers Jamie. Link to comment
awareness 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I would think this was a hard shot to get so I congratulate you on that. I love the clarity of the eye. Unfortunately I find the background too green and blue for this particular subject. I find my eyes keep going to the background rather than the subject. The shadow from its wing and the washing out of its left wing are also problematic. But again, I do respect the difficulty in taking a shot like this. Well done! Link to comment
mrhagerman 0 Posted September 23, 2006 I get a chance now and again to try and catch osprey using the Canon 100-400 lens, not and easy feat. Nice work. Link to comment
countrylapi 0 Posted September 23, 2006 thanks all of you. yes i did use AI SERVO focus which continuosly tracks the subject and predictively tracks as you shoot. i have to admit, i was so focused on the head, i lost the fact that i over-saturated it a little. good call. but thanks again to all of you. feel free to stop by my portfolio and see my other work.
