Lovely coours, Len! Nice comp. You took care not to cut off the lower right leaf. Nothing over exposed. I like your choice of film for this shot!

Greg, Thanks for taking the time. I've just rediscovered Velvia 50 thanks in large part to my newly aquired Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II. Previously it was just too much hassel and was always chancey to get a cheap but good print from chromes in the past. Now, even Costco turns out a relatively high quality result when provided with a decent file. Fading sunlight prompted a rather hurried approch to this one. A few seconds later and the warm spot of light was gone, replaced by a rather flat skylight with no direction to it. Best, LM.

I am overjoyed by the comment you have left behind on one of my pics during revisit. You have an oustanding collection of images posted at this site.

In this pic you have used shades of greens, reds and spot of yellow (Stamen). Yellow draws to focus upon the flower although covered by green buds and leaves. Simple yet a beautiful purist composition. LOL

Satvinder, I'm much better at 'simple' than I am at 'complicated' :-) Your comment (as opposed to critique) is valuable simply because it shows me what others find interesting about the shot that I may have overlooked. Perhaps I was subconsciously attracted by the yellow stamen and the buds as I don't recall them being a part of my thinking at the time. (perhaps they SHOULD have been) My objective was to obtain a portrait of one of the blooms and my real concern at the time was to capture it before the spot of light faded. Thanks for reminding me of a few other things I should have been considering. Best, LM.

Biil, Thanks for stopping by. Compared to another I took under full sunlight this one is indeed more subtle of colour. Best, LM.

Spotted last summer on a tour of the Royal Botanical Gardens,

Hamilton, On. Quickly changing light prompted a fast response from

me in composing this study. Your comments\views will be gratefully

received. Best, LM.

Farshad, Thanks for commenting. The colours were my prime attraction. Next was the way the light seemed to spotlight the bloom. Best, LM.
