alberto.conde 0 Posted September 4, 2006 El Monte de las Cenizas (the Ashes Mountain) is part of the natural Park of Calblanque and the Monte de las Cenizas in Murcia, in southeastern Spain. This is a typical rocky formation up in the mountain. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted September 4, 2006 This is great, Alberto - and not exactly your usual fare. I really like the textures. Well seen! Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Thanks Lou Ann, Ity's great to have the first comment coming from you! And yes, it's quite a different approach, but needed to improve, don't you agree? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I absolutely agree! If I didn't, you'd only ever see photos of mountains from me. :-) And lately I've uploaded images of churches and a rooster and a hallway ....... you might even see a photo of a complete stranger coming up one of these days. And NOW I have to go out and find a rock face to shoot. :-) Link to comment

Link to comment
Estupenda. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted September 9, 2006 The colours are good - nice rich browns etc . Is this a volcanic area? My engineering training included a bit of geology which I found fascinating. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted September 9, 2006 No, Colin. This is a metamorphic rock in a cape mountain near the town of Cartagena in Spain, the National Park of Calblanque and the Mount of the Ashes. I shot the yellowish image, titled, Heavy metal from up there. According to Guillermo Labarga (a guide of that Natural Park and great photographer), who was with me snapping at everything that morning, those ocre colours are the result of iron oxide and the whitish incrusts are Quartzite.
