afs760bf 0 Posted August 31, 2006 West Quoddy Head Light. Taken at low tide from the top of a rock on the point - at 15mm. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 31, 2006 What a fun sky! I love the colors. This is MY kind of landscape!! :-) Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Thanks Damian and Lou Ann, for stopping by. I kinda like this one myself. I thought about cloning out the people on the beach, but decided to leave them in for a warped sense of perspective. What do you think? Or maybe you didn't even notice them - they're not real prominent. Cheers. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Barry, at first I didn't see the lighthouse for looking at the interesting sky. Good textures and colors in the landscape. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Oh, I definitely noticed the people. And I definitely don't have a problem with them. My first thought was that you lowered the saturation on them a bit because they sort of blend into the shore colors. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 1, 2006 Barry, it is an interesting landscape, because the unusal sky and nice FG. The clouds looks like they have been "glued" to the sky;-)) never saw that form. The people are seen on the FG. I think they give a scale to the composition but they are not prominent enough. I like the point of red color at the UR. and the yellow FG. To Sum it up , nice to observe the many forms of the landscape. Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Hi, Pnina, Thanks for your comments, as always. I think the yellowish foreground kinda sets the tone for the photo. The growth on the rock reflecting the sun. I could only manage this with the 15mm, which gives me both sides of the point of land. Actually, it takes about 20 minutes to walk from the beach on the left to the lighthouse on the right. And, of course, I had to be careful not to get my feet in the picture. Best Regards, Barry Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Thank you for saying that! I only bought my 10-22mm a few months ago and the FIRST thing that I noticed is that I was getting my feet (and sometimes my camera bag) in the shot. Funny!! Link to comment
david aichele 0 Posted September 3, 2006 that can see how fake the sky is? It isn't even convincing... take a look @ the sky on the left side of the photo and you can see smuge marks. Seriously, this is not a top photo. David. Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted September 5, 2006 David, If there are smudge marks on the left side of the photo, it is quite possibly due to my failings at PS, rather than my talents at it. This shot was taken at 15mm, and did require a little touching up. As to whether this is a top photo (which is not decided by me), I might suggest that you take a look at the top photos, and you will discover that many, if not most, of those are not photos in the "classic sense." Most of them are manipulated in some fashion, some rather extensively. This is especially true of the landscape shots. Some are not even photos at all, but are graphic images. If I was good enough to create a fake sky like this, I would take it as a compliment, and you can be sure that I would have more photos in the "top photos." I looked at your portfolio. I like your race photos. Pretty good stuff. Best Regards, Barry Link to comment

afs760bf 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Nice of you to drop by and say so-long. I read your home page. I'm going to stick around a while and see what happens. I'm sad to see you go. You're a great photographer, and a great communicator with good ideas. When you start your own photography community, let me know - I'll post some pictures and ruin it. So long for now, and keep in touch. God Bless,Barry Link to comment
