Nice shot. It's so calm and soothing, even though there is so much going on in the shot. I like the light colours and very smooth contrast. That shot would look great blown up really big any standard black frame and white matting. I also like the cropping. Where was it taken? Brian.

Interesting pictures you've made with the modified SONY, Sondra.

I've not experimented with IR but always wanted to. Do you still use this camera for visible light photography with some sort of IR cut filter?

I would hate to permanently commit my 828 to IR since it already offers NightShot mode; the thinking is, I can enter this mode in conjunction with an IR pass filter and achieve the same result, albeit limited by fixed aperture and 2S maximum exposure.

Michael, I have a light blue filter that I can put on for color shooting. You can use the night mode too and get IR results. My color photography is done with a Canon 20D. I carry two cameras on a shoot. Jim Kerr, a PN friend, uses the Sony F828 in the night mode for IR, you can look at his work too and talk to him. Hope this info helps. Sondra

Hi Sondra, that sounds awefully like a compliment. To tell the truth, doing IR the way you do it is surely the best way.....Actually I got to doing it by advice from Tony Georgiadis.....Be glad to help Mike all I can......Jim

Another lovely IR, Sondra. I like the square format here. The sky and the trees are perfect ... and the glassy surface of the water is so serene. Great work, as usual!

Sondra, very generous of you to say so, but to me, my pictures don't hold a candle to yours, Tony Georgiadis, and several others on here. There are just a great number of extremely good photographers on here.....Oh, been wanting to ask if your knees are still holding out ok?......Jim

Hi Jim, I'm aware of Tony's portfolio - quite beautiful, especially them cows. :-)

As mentioned to Sondra, I'm about to experiment but I think I'll try the route of a ND400 filter on the DSC-F828 in NightShot mode - apparently it acts as a visible light attenuator but allows much of IR to pass, but has the advantage of enabling "normal" photography such as long exposure waterfalls, or straight into full sun etc.

great ir shot, sondra... probably the plant at low left corner diminish a bit the simmetry of reflection, but it could also help unbalance the image a little, which would not be so bad... all the rest works just fine.
