wogears 186 Posted August 28, 2006 I like it, but I'm not sure about her skin. Can I try an edit? Link to comment
lbaranyai1 0 Posted August 30, 2006 You have great enemies here, they gave you five '3' ratings for this picture. This image is definetelly better than an average portrait. Please don't let them discourage you .I like the monochromic colors, the soft sidelight and her expression. This picture is much more than a decent portrait of a girl. Your portfolio is terrible underrated too, you are an excellent photographer, regardless those stupid ratings! Keep posting! Laszlo Link to comment
rina 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Laszlo, Thanks a lot for your encouraging words. The technical quality of this picture is not so good. It was terribly underexposed and I tried to rescue it. The background also looked terrible - ugly lamp and cables which had to be hidden. Infact I just wanted to see how the light was in this corner where the column was standing. When I saw the picture I liked it a lot. But... see above. Many times pictures I like most are not well rated. Well. I do not care. Kind comments like yours and constructive critiques are invaluable - much more important to me than quickly given numbers. Kind regards Rina Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted August 30, 2006 Hi! Not sure about this either, but I think it improves the skin a bit. Only my opinion. Link to comment
Phil_Light 795 Posted December 25, 2008 Rina- I was drawn to this image as well. You have done an admirable job with resuscitating this from the underexposure realm! I like the inital feeling but find the models' expression a little deadpan for my taste. But thats a subjective call anyway. I was wondering if you could help her eye in the shadow? Photoshop retouching (patch) tool might work miracles for removing the dark and irregular circle from her eye. Overall I like the image and hope I can encourage you to continue posting. I have also reached moments of breaking points with these idiot anonymous raters (raiders) who have for years denegrated the site with their vile hit and run tactics. I also think there are groups of people who will consciously rate poorly any image offerred for critique/rating while boosting their own groups ratings into top photos. Unfortunately I will not speak openly about these splinter factions. But keep up the good work, I continue to include some of your images in my (108) favorites. Link to comment
