michael_taylor18 0 Posted August 28, 2006 I remember being in Florence looking up at David and hearing some tourist complain to security that they just wanted one photo of the david after they were told that no photos were to be taken. I dont know if it was just becuase of the flash or not, but i was offended that people didnt respect the piece of art enough to only appreciate it through their eyes, not the viewfinder of a camera or the screen of a cell phone. I dont know the circumstances under which you took this photo, but i hope you respected the rules against flash photography. Link to comment
joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted August 28, 2006 this photo was taken in 1996; no flash was used only ambient light, ididn,t even have a flash for that camera. Link to comment
joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted August 28, 2006 the low ratings on this my finest photo, just shows what bull shit the rating system is. i,ll never pay for another membership till the rating system is changed. Link to comment
marahjj 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Hi Joe~ Don't get discouraged by the ratings system. It's not the true purpose here. I would suggest reciprocating with others via comments. Much more helpful in learning :) Anyhow, I think you captured a good perspective of a "very" photographed subject. Your use of natural lighting was respectful and captured good shadows/highlights. My only distraction is from the light above. I would try cropping just a bit from the top,but leave the ornamental trim. Just a thought......congrats! Link to comment
kathughes 0 Posted June 15, 2009 i, too, captured david in florence. no flash needed. i don't understand why there is a "no photos" rule...how could flash harm a marble statue? being an upstart myself, i just had to get a few snaps... i think i would have preferred a longer exposure to get more details on this magnificent statue...my favorite of all time. kat Link to comment
