Guest Guest Posted September 1, 2006 Neil, you have made a huge leap since I last visited. You must be over joyed with the 1D. The details are superb, even at ISO 800 on another photo. (not to mention the B word) The focus of this photo is on the two jockeys as told by the title, but FWIW perhaps you could have cropped in such a way that the head of the brown horse can be seen. Of couse this would shift the centre of focus, but maybe you could make it into a sort of panorama by extending the backs of the horses. Also, congratulations on making it into the top photos with the pelicans. Link to comment
namurray 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks very much indeed Andy for your comments. Yes, my first crop included the brown horse's whole head, but I decided to go in closer to get the jockeys' heads bigger in the frame to go with the caption. I agree it does make the right side of the photo look a bit messy and cut off. I'm still keeping your suggestion about backgrounds and bokeh in mind. Not always successful though. And yes I do love the 1D, particularly for its autofocus ability for fast action; a big improvement over the 20D.Kind regards, Neil Link to comment
david morgan 0 Posted September 4, 2006 The effort and concentration of both man and animal are very well depicted in this image. Great composition sharpness and detail. Congratulations. Link to comment
