abintraphoto 0 Posted August 27, 2006 Kim I've always felt that what makes many portraits stand out is the setting/background - it should accent and be interesting but not distract from the subject ....... You're getting this down quick - yep ... This is very well lit AND arranged. Now, once you get as good as me - you too will forget to remove the lens hood that casts the shadowww on his toes ... )-; Just a snapshot with the on-board flash - he sits in the window to my immediate left when I at the comp - I *inherited* him temporarily from my daughter - ha - and He needs a name ... maybe 7/7 (-; Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks, everyone! Glad you all enjoyed this kitty as much as I did for the short time we had her. But she has a great home now. Ken, I think the most important thing when shooting portraits of anything is to remember the furry slippers. It's even more important with cats. I had my Shrek slippers on for this one. Please be sure and let me know when I get as good as you, if that ever happens! :) Your cat looks like a "Tobias" (Toby for short) to me. No particular reason... Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Beautiful shot...maybe you'll have to see if you can borrow him once in a while from his new family...he's great as a model! As for Ken's cat, Toby is great...my sister had a cat that looked just like him by the same name! :) I need to get some fuzzy slippers I think and start following the Slonaker Method. kslonaker 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Leslie, she lives about 4 hours from here, so I doubt we'll be able to borrow her unless we go there. It's funny that two of the three kittens ended up in Austin and only one stayed local. Link to comment
fiona madden 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Aww such a cutie!!! Lighting is perfect. I could never have handed her over! Thanks for your comments Kim! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 29, 2006 It was difficult, Fiona, but with two cats and two dogs already, we had to do it. Plus we are gone 11 hours a day and that's just too long to leave an animal alone. Our other animals are all outdoor animals (6 acres to run around on - one fenced), but this one had been inside for a couple of weeks, so didn't enjoy it outdoors any longer. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted August 30, 2006 Okay, why would a cat in Texas be waiting for snow? I had a cat named Tooty; a brown tabby. Wished I had taken shots of him as nice as this. Link to comment
