The passing of a legend - Maynard Ferguson 1928-2006

It is with great sadness that I post this image of Maynard. I was enjoying the kind respnoses

to my last posting of Maynard just a few days ago but just found out he passed away last

night. He was loved by many. He was an inspiration to the many high school kids like me

that he played for over the last 40 years. He will be missed. Thank you again for all of your

kind remarks.

Two more things... I realized I posted the wrong image.. This is now correct.

I see I forgot to click critique only.... In this case I really don't care about ratings only to pay tribute to Maynards passing...

I love the glow on his trumpet. I can hear those high notes as if he were right here.

Maynard tried to include young musicians in his band, and would truly mentor them and help them break into the jazz industry. He was much more than a giften musician!

John -- Lou Ann sent me a link to the MF Picture that you posted last week. I forwarded it to Maynard's road manager in an email and said, "Have you seen this? You have GOT to talk to this photographer and use this picture for Maynard's next album cover!" About an hour later, he called to tell me that Maynard was in the hospital and wouldn't be coming home. He died later that evening.

The picture is ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS. It just catches the essence of who Maynard was -- magical. I saw him in concert for the first time when I was 10 and have been a longtime fan and friend of The Boss ever since. He will truly be missed. I am so glad that you caught this image of him. It will be one that I look at a lot and will treasure.
