Again, another that I am not sure about ... sometimes I like it, sometimes it bothers me. The sky was SO overcast this day, but I was able to bring out some of the details in the clouds in photoshop. It was a charming old windmill, and Bente's sister was able to get us inside and we climbed old rickety ladders to the very top. It was a great experience! What are your thoughts?

LouAnn, with a sky like that I don't think Wilson can do a better job then you. Very nicely done.

Nicely done, Lou Ann. I love all the grays in the photo, and it's framed very well. Just a little bit of red to set it off. Nice shot. Best Regards,

Barry

What a fine old windmill! Tricky exposure conditions here with the bright overcast sky and dark coloured mill (with white painted bits just to make the photographers task even more difficult). I like the row of trees going off to the right.

Good job, Lou Ann. The only thing a little off to me is that dark bit of sky in the upper left that is drawing my attention. An easy fix, though.

The old windmill on "my" beloved little smiling island Bogoe. A very special place to me. When You were in Denmark I was so sad about the weather being so nasty to you Lou Ann but it really looks so good with the clouds on many of your danish photos and this on is no acceptense. Nice crop and a little more dramatical than it normally looks.

I don't recall how old the mill is but there is a little social club named *The friends of Bogoe Mill' taking care of it and working on to preserve it as it was originally. One of the things they have done lately is to restore the wings and as far I can see on your picture they are laying in the grass in front of the of the white part of the mill. They are now restored and back on the mill where they belong. Sad you didn't get them on your picture. It is told that the wings still can turn but nobody know how to get them started.

When my oldest grand daughter was about 2-3 years old she was a 'mill-freak'. She spotted every mill in the landscape surrounding her, knew the differences between them - the modern ones producing electricity and the old ones producing flour, remembering the names of the old ones - and she claimed that when she grew up she wanted to live in this one.

Thanks for your comment, Bente! And I appreciate everyone's encouragement about the sky. I boosted the contrast a bit, but wasn't sure if the result was sufficient. Apparently it was. :-) Bente ... I suppose that I'll have to come back again to see how the mill looks with the wings back on it! :-D

Nice travel picture, I like the moody atmosphere, feels like a storm is coming. One of the things that makes a picture successful is that it conveys a mood. Part of the fun here on PN is getting to "travel" with other photographers leading the way, now I can say I've been to Denmark.

Hello Lou Ann. I'm back from my long holiday, during which I only posted a few pictures between trips. I'm glad to be back and meet again dear PN friends!

I really like this picture, Lou Ann. The country green and red work beautifully against the grey sky. I went to Hamburg last October with my wife and a group of students, and we visited an outdoor ecological museum where old farms and windmills from the 17th, 18th and 19th Century had been transplanted. It was near the Danish border, not very far from Kiel, and we had the same countryside and sky. BTW, I have a picture of an old windmill taken there which is quite similar to yours ( I'll try to post it for you!).
