The road gives a greater sense of depth than the phone lines.

The phone lines distract the observer from the person on the road, which makes a far more interesting point of focus.

the thing that bugs me about the wire, is that it's coming right out of the corner of the frame. so, regardless of if it pulls you in or not, (which it does to a degree), it's the first thing your eye sees in the shot. so even if it does add to the sense of 'depth', it's still a little annoying.

i think that's why the other's find it distracting, maybe? because that's what bothers me.

Francesco, a beautiful landscape. As soon as I saw it I knew there would be calls to clone out the wire. I think the wire makes it a more interesting shot - the classic landscape with modern reality intruding. The wire also adds to the dynamic feel of the composition. regards - Colin
