love the contrast between the family in front and the people in the back.

 

also like how the family almost blends into the background.

I wonder what ispurpose of people photographed in that angle. do they identify with the victims behind? A strange juxtaposition.

Unfortunatelly I rather think they just wanna make a souvenir photo. They were from Mexico as far as I understood. And they were not so much schocked.

I've seen similar photo opps. One I recall from the site of the twin towers. Surely such people are unaware of how tasteless it appears. It's probably a common faux pas among foreigners.

I find this picture highly upsetting. Who has their children pose with a documented picture of inhuman atrocities in the background? It represents the worst of human nature. But your picture makes me think. There's a poem by the Israeli poet Yehuda Amichai called "Tourists," which comments on people who have their pictures taken in front of memorials for the dead. It's like they're blind to what they're seeing, where they are standing, on bloody ground. This is a sad commentary on people not learning from history.
