aepelbacher 0 Posted August 18, 2006 This was taken at the top of the tower that was in the previous image. We climbed the tower, and gorgeous views like this greeted us at the top. The Oresund Bridge that you can just see on the horizon connects the main island of Denmark (where Copenhagen is) to Sweden. I highly recommend the article (linked above), as the bridge (only finished in 2000) has lots of superlative descriptions.I also want to point out the second highest spire that you can see. The steeple has a swirly look to it ... and that is an outdoor staircase. We took a boat tour of the Copenhagen waterways, and got closer to it. It was fun watching people climb to the top. Maybe on my next visit..... :-)As far as this image goes, I think that I broke all sorts of rules in putting the horizon directly in the middle. But I didn't want to crop out the only piece of blue that you can still see as the sky clouds over.Thoughts? Link to comment
torfinn 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Nice overview shot. I think it was right to not take away that blue spot in the sky. Thanks for your comments. They are highly appreciated. Congrats! Torfinn Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted August 18, 2006 ha! i finally get a chance to play with one of your images. since the horizon is so close to the center, why not put it dead center. then there is a balance between the busy-ness of the city and the calm of the sky, broken by the tower. sometimes it is fun to break the rules - especially when it is so harmless! plus i don't think that the neutral colored buildings on the bottom add anything to the shot. aepelbacher 0 Posted August 18, 2006 You're SO right! When I saw that I didn't want to do 2/3, I didn't even think to even it out at least. Thanks, Linda! Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted August 18, 2006 Lou can I add that the church with the spiral steeple in the background is "Frelsers kirke". Students from the Gymnasium at the foot of the church (Christianhavns gymnasium - the same Christian as the one that build tha Round Tower)) used to go to the top to drop their text books when they had passed exams ! I'm sure, it has been forbidden since long ! Link to comment
joanbn 0 Posted August 19, 2006 I love the steeple. Also the colorful buildings. My grandson had a layover there yesterday and toured the city for a couple hours. I'll be anxious to see what photos he took. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 19, 2006 Cityscape is nice Lou Ann, but my favorite is the steeple! which has beautiful details and people, I think that it deserves the right upper place ;-)) Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted August 19, 2006 What a great overview...I love the curving street leading us in to the center. I also love the close-up of the steeple...wow! It's really beautiful! BTW, nice bio pic *and hand-drawn portrait* :P Link to comment
