cherlyn 1 Posted August 14, 2006 performance is a traditional cultural performance unique to Hanoi. The performers stand in waist deep water, operating the puppet behind the curtains agilely. It was said that these wooden puppets must be carved by the puppetter themselves , and not bought, for the puppets to be able to work. A very interesting performance. Hope you enjoy the seris of puppet performance animation that I made for you. http://c17.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=1793485&java=0&security=0b98d0cb&invisible=1 Link to comment

Cherlyn, I read somewhere, That NO trip to Hanoi is complete without a bowl of steaming pho from a street-side noodle stall. This classic of Vietnamese cuisine has been called the premier noodle soup on the planet. How true ..... ~Regards~Satya~ Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted August 16, 2006 of course I would never miss the taste of PHO in Hanoi. In fact we tasted PHO is all the cities that we visit but Hanoi's the best, the texture smooth & delicious & goes so well with either beef, chicken or pork. Read somewhere that this PHO made by Hanoi's women builds a nation, well, some truth in it I guess as it is so widely eaten throughout Vietnam & overseas, even in Singapore. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted August 17, 2006 Extraordinary! I wonder how many other cultural traditions involve standing waist deep in water? (Can you count surfing as a cultural tradition - possibly not!) Good reflections and I like the repetition of the array of puppets. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Nice Cherlyn, did you go to Halong Bay? The mountains are like those from Gweilin in China. Link to comment
