kharper1 78 Posted August 13, 2006 strong lines from the columns and roof, and really like the two clocks. Draws you into the picture. The lower edge feels a little cut off. I would like to have seen more of the column bases and the feet of the people in the doorway? Link to comment
smartpix 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Great shot. Don't change a thing. I love it. Martin Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 13, 2006 Keith,When you have to decide where to crop, you have to decide what is more importent in a given composition. The upper part with the clocks, the cailing ,and the colonnade were more importent than the base that is seen in part and I think is enough. The people were there but are not the main subject in the composition. Welcome to PN, and thanks. Martin, thanks as well, I'm glad you like it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 13, 2006 you chose just the right camera position, Pnina. impressive perspective, and very natural colours. Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted August 14, 2006 All these straight lines makes a strong picture Pnina. The decorations of the ceiling and the ornaments are beautiful. Though I like the composition very much (colours, light, clocks) I'm not sure about the crop at the bottom. Now the lower part is still missing till the base, I think I would prefer to cut off a bit of the bottom part just there where the second circle of the poles turns into the first one (on my screen it's only 5 mm from the bottom) and clone out the upper part of the body's and people's heads. I think it will bring complete serenity in the picture. I hope that you understand what I mean to say in my clumsy English, Pnina and I hope you don't mind my remark. It's only my humble opinion while you are the real master in art. Hugs and all the best Pnina, Ada:~) Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 14, 2006 Thank you all for your feedback.. Ada, I understand what you say and of course I don't mind, as I like to read the Impressions of viewers. Like your problem in the bookstore ...That place is full! but full with tourists, I waited for the moment that the colonade will be empty, but it did not happen and my time was limited, so I cropped it with the people at the end( and still had to clean some parts of people walking....;-)) ). I think that taking into account the circumstances, I liked the results, and decided to leave the people as part of the scene. Thanks my friend. Pnina Link to comment
j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Superb!!!! lines, lighting and shadows. Love the two clocks that give a very good DOF. Great pattern too. Shalom dear Pnina Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 14, 2006 Impressive depth Pnina! Symetry is stunning and the people in the far far far background give us a good idea of the scale. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted August 14, 2006 Excellent composition, very good exposure, light and DOF,Pnina. I agree with you absolutely that in this composition, the pillars, the ceiling and the clock are accentuated and the human beings are relegated to the background. I feel you could not have achieved the converging lines,if you tried to show the crowd at the end, which in any case is out of focus. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 14, 2006 I LOVE this! What I like is that the impression is that the hallway & columns go on into infinity, but the clock in the distance stops the eye at the last minute. Nice!! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 14, 2006 Spencer my friend, thanks for your constant support! Shalom Yann, thanks for stopping by and your written comments Amal, glad that you agree with my reasoning, I tryed tio explain it the best I could. Lou Ann, thanks again, How was Boston? and the 10-22mm results? I'm curious! Pnina Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted August 15, 2006 Excellent depth. The tunnel of columns draws one into the passage way, the clock provides an interesting element to the image. Very well captured, Pnina. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 15, 2006 Good composition tha works with the subject to allow the viewer to make their own story and meaning about the shot. I see the regular march of time in the clock and the columns and humanity caught inside. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 15, 2006 Cherlyn and Colin, thanks for your written point of view. Link to comment
distantvoice 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Pnina, everything has been written here. Very interesting photograph, nice concept. When I looked at your image I came across a funny idea, I would try a double exposure and use the second photo made for example 15 minutes later as a layer covering only the second clock. This colonnade would symbolize the passage of time and the picture would get a new meaning. Still it would be an obvious manipualtion and the photograph is very meaningful as it is. What do you think? Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Love the symmetry here Pnina and the muted colours, especially the coppery tone of the clock. The clock being so dominant here and the people so small gives alot of meaning to the image. A suggestion; I'm wondering if it could afford to lose the very top section, from just below the cap on the pillar on right? Link to comment
blackdogstudio 1 Posted August 16, 2006 Fantastic viewpoint and perspective Pnina. Particularly, the title is fitting and the manner in which the background clock "mirrors" the first is indeed lovely. Excellent composition. Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 16, 2006 Thanks, Michal, Mike and Kelvin, I appreciate your contribution. Michal, thanks for taking the time and for your suggestion, for sure an idea, but I don't manipulate my photographs... ;-)) My aim is to observe the special in our human life, special corners, situations, phenomenons, creations etc. and create my work through it. But you are always welcome Michal, I'm ready to listen to ideas and more points of view. Mike, I have tried it and it does not help the composition imo. Thanks for your comment and offer, I appreciate it. Kelvin, Thanks as well, I love your dance images. Pnina Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 19, 2006 Lovely capture! The repeated shapes and lines are mesmerizing. I would suggest sacrificing the top of the first pillar in order to get the legs of the people in the picture (sorry if this was already suggested above). Link to comment
