kslonaker 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Combined a multi-layer shot I did a while ago (the cross) with a shot of this little statue my mother-in-law insists we keep around the house (she's Catholic and I think is worried about our souls!). I shot it with studio lights, then layered it with the cross shot. Comments welcome! Link to comment
themusikman 0 Posted August 13, 2006 For reasons not known even to myself, I am not usually a big fan of layering separate images together, but this is a lovely composition. Fantastic. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 13, 2006 I have become a big fan of layering images because you can get some really interesting effects. It can be overdone, however. Thanks for visiting, David. Link to comment
w. roger keagle 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Glad to see you working with your new lights, the layering works really well on this...back in my studio days, did a lot of double portraits using this...but composed them in the camera...easy on 4X5...just mark in grease pen where you have the first, and make the light contrasty, then fill in the second image with the space left, all on a black or very dark background. Profile and threequarters combined worked well for this....you might try it some time Kim. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 13, 2006 I'm up to trying just about anything, Roger (except maybe self-portrait nudes!!!). :) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 15, 2006 Oh, - disappointment! This is a striking shot, Kim, and the layering works well. I like the colour contrasts. I wonder if the figure could be a little darker (esp the face highlights) to give a stronger sense of depth? The figure seems to show strong and earnest emotion. Link to comment
