Difficult shot without an Image Stabilized lens and you've done well with hand-holding. Nice touch with the black stripes!

I took this shot in a bookshop and not such a regular shop. On my

tour of it I got more and more surprized by the great ambiance and

furnishing. Never thought to find something like that in a little

country village. But by the way..... I have a problem and I hope that

someone can help me. When I took this shot casually I must have

overlooked the grey doormat because otherwhise I had asked the owner

of the shop if I was allowed to remove it. Afterwards it distracts me

a lot; it actually irritates me. I have tried to clone it out, I've

copied different parts of the tiledfloor and placed them over the mat

but I can't manage it.

I would be very grateful for some good advices and ofcourse I'm

interested to hear your opinion related to this picture in it's whole

because I have not so much experience in doing inside photography.

Thank you, Ada.

Ada, if you hadn't called it a doormat, I'd have thought it was the edge of a table, in any event, I don't think it detracts

I like that dark corner, doormat, statue and chair, sort of leads my eye up the hall from it as a starting point

I like the shot and I agree that the doormat is distracting. It's really a shame that they wouldn't let you take it up for a minute or two. I'm curious why cloning didn't work. Anyway, it is a nice image with good balance and attractive, soothing color tones.

Ada, it is a very nice image of that book store. The doormat is a bit of a distraction but not so much to change the beauty of the whole, the angle, the floor, the hall inside vs. the outside part are very nicely lighted and exposed. I like the statue in the corner. beautiful setup! just relax, I don't think you have to change anything for the net, if you want to print it, it is a lot of work but I think it can be done . I love libraries and it looks tempting! hugs Pnina

Beautiful image. It gives really the desire to enter in this bookshop, hoping that a lot of adventures will happen to you.

Cloning will not work in this case. You need to select a portion of the 'good' floor, copy it to a new layer, drag it to its new location and distort to fit. It will be a lot of work if you are not accustomed to this, but there are much worse cases! You may even get away without distortion, but you will probably have to use Curves to get the lighting to look right.

If you send me a full-res TIFF file, I can show you what I mean.

Michael, Jack, Gary, Pnina, Richard, Henri and Les thank you all very much for the time you took to look and comment this picture. I appreciate it!

- Gary, perhaps it's my poor knowledge of the English language but I like to emphasize that the owners of the shop where very friendly people and they didn't kept me from drawing away that mat. I even haven't taken the effort to ask them because at that moment they where very busy to help other costumers. Actually I was not in the shop to take pictures. I had my camera with me because I didn't want to leave it my car. When I saw the extra ordinary interior I decided to make some shots. Not in particular to place them on PN but to show them to my family to give them an impression of the great entourage of the shop. So when I took the pictures that mat hasn't struck me at all, that happened afterwards when I had uploaded my shots on my PC and reviewed them.

- Pnina, even when I should not have the intention to make a print of this picture I should feel the urge to make it perfect, first off because of the mat which spoils the effect somewhat and second, I can't endure that I'm not able to do that job. I think it's the declination of my kit lens which makes it extra difficult to add the missing tiles in the right proportions. I have already used the option 'transform' in PS to adjust that disturbing bend as much as possible.

- Les, it's very kind of you to give me some useful advice. I think I have already tried the method of copy and distortion you point me out. But also that didn't work. At least not in the way I have done it. But perhaps I did something wrong. So I accept your offer to explain it to me at the hand of the picture in its full size real gladly. I will contact you by e-mail. Thank you very much in advance.

Many greetings to all of you, Ada.

This is very good, Ada, one of your best, I think. It is hard to believe that this is a bookstore, or that you took this without flash or tripod.

Oh Ada, this bookstore has an amzing atmosphere.... It looks a bit surreal even. Nice tones and colours. Just a place where I want to be a couple of hours. Just sit and relax.... I LOVE books, hahahahaha. I am an interior designer and I like this very much, :-)..... Bye Ada with your nice vision, liefs!

Hi Lannie, great to see you and thank you very much for your appreciation. It really surprizes me that you think this is my best shot till now. I really interested to hear from you in which aspect it's my best on in your opinion, Lannie. I'm curious. Groetjes, Ada.

Hallo Bianca!

Thank you for all your comments on my photos Ada :-) I love inside shots but I find them hard to do. This one is great. your eye focus on the subject in front then through the archway. When you look at this photo as well you think what are the rooms like behind those closed doors.

Colin, nice to see you're back again and thank you very much for you contribution. I appreciate the opinion of a great photographer like you very much.

So good to see you Lieve Els and I'm glad you like this scene so very much:)

Hi Michael thanks for your visit and kind words. Yes I agree with you about indoor shots. It's not such a very easy job to get a good picture. I'm pretty contented with this one. The view was great and interesting and the shop was lightened very well at that spot. Next to that there was a large window at the left so I had enough light that falls in from outside. The other bookshop shot I have posted was a horse of a different colour and was really difficult because of the differences in light on the first en second floor. But I have already mentioned that I think. I get old Michael, I start to repeat things;-(

Many greetings to all of you, Ada:)

I keep coming back to this one, Ada. There is a a great contrast between the foreground and the hall. I can almost imagine Luca Brasi hulking away from us down that hall in heavy overcoat to visit Bruno Tattaglia and getting to meet Sollozo--and his fate.

In any case, we know that someone will appear momentarily, and so the hall is full of expectancy. Who will come through the door at the end? Who will exit one of the rooms into the hall? There is dynamism in this static shot.

It is truly beautifully done. I wish that we had bookshops like that in this part of the world--but, again, it just doesn't look like a bookshop from this angle.

Hello

- Very nice , good idea and subject . Well done . Congratulations .

- Many years ago, I read a book ( painting art collection- issue ) about the mystery , in painting art . As a general rule , an object/ detail , an expression on the face , or other little thing , apparently out of range and understanding , increase the attention and curiosity of the people . Here,in my opinion , the grey doormat must remain in the photo

( is not anesthetically ) , is some kind a link between the reality / real life and the perfection that we are looking for , through fine art . This grey doormat , also mark the presence of mankind .

Dear Madam , I want also to tell you , how much I appreciate the people like you who , looking for /find / recognize ( appreciate) / and share , the beauty and the proper mankind values .

Best regards

Dan Stefan
