There were several swans swimming in the pond (moat?) near Kronborg slot (see my previous upload). The thing I don't like about this shot are the shadows and hot spots on the swan. I need to get better with photoshop.....

This is a nice shot, Lou Ann. Instead of working in Photoshop, could I suggest some fill flash? It may have been too far away to do any good but on the other hand, it may have been just enough to fill in the details. Nice work.

I like it, especially the bright whites and the form those shadows invoke, his eyes being visible might add along those lines..I like to think he's just sleeping.(:

Lou Ann, I like it with the shadows... his form has grace and well presented on the frame. The shadows are looking like "reflections" of his neck ;-)) Nice catch.

How was Boston? and 10-22 mm?

I love this shot, it is a pity about the burn out, but still a lovely shot none the less. Kind of reminds me of the kind of swan I would find in a fairy tale

Thanks for sharing

A good shot even with the burn out. Tricky things to shoot, swans. They are just too white and also tend to get upset easily and attack the photographer. The light and shade are nice here though the burnt areas are a problem. I have made a habit of clicking the 'info' button (twice, I think) which brings up the image histogram and more importantly a small version of the image with over-exposed areas flashing in black. Very useful.

I agree about the highlights, but the pose is excellent and your choice of b&w is a good one. I don't mind the shadows at all and the feather detail on the neck is really good. Nice shot.
