aepelbacher 0 Posted August 10, 2006 This is the Kronborg Slot in Elsinore, Denmark. The word "slot" in Danish means "castle" in English. There are many slots in Denmark, of course. But this particular slot is in the city of Elsinore. If you remember that name, it was the setting for the fictional story of Hamlet. The castle is beautiful, but I didn't have a wide enough angle lens to capture it accurately. Here is my rendition ... with the perspective significantly altered. Thoughts? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 10, 2006 And ... after a short e-mail discussion with Leslie Battjes, I decided to fool around with the frame. So, this attachment is for Leslie. Thanks, Leslie! :-) Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 10, 2006 Great colors and architecture of the Church but I would crop more the bottom to avoid that red roofs :)IMHO~! BIliana Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted August 10, 2006 Nice Photoshop work, Lou Ann; I have problems with not getting wide enough, too, and have to make do. You done so well here that I really couldn't tell that you did any PS work on it. I agree with the red roof but sometimes we take what we can get. Regards. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 11, 2006 Hi Lou Ann, I agree with the others about cropping the red tile. Great architecture. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted August 12, 2006 The castle stands out very well on this blue sky. Pity that you had'nt a higher view point to avoid the brick wall and the roof. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 13, 2006 I'm in agreement with the "cropping out the orange roof" votes. Either that, or clone some grass in all the way across to cover it. :) I wonder about cropping just above those arched windows at the bottom? You would still retain most of the interesting part of the building and get rid of the distractions at the bottom. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Love the frame (-; Now I just need to give your info a try. Soon! As for this "slot", really cool. Looks like a beautiful place...minus the newer surroundings (sigh) Have you thought about a crop that focuses just on the left side...the architecture there is really interesting and if you crop above the lower windows as Kim mentioned, the rooftops wouldn't be in the way. Just a thought. Leslie :) Link to comment

lbattjes 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Now why didn't I think of that? Els, B&W looks great! What do you think, Lou Ann? Leslie Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Cropping definitely works and b&w is very dramatic! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 15, 2006 The B&W IS dramatic ... Els, thank you (and, yes ... the good old times ... ) I was such a sucker for the blue sky that I didn't even experiment with B&W. Actually, to get the square format, I cropped it radically from the right ... so if I went back to re-do this image, cropping out the red roofs and converting to a high-contrast B&W like that I could easily include a bit more of the right side of the image, and go back to my preferred 2x3 proportions quite easily. Thanks, all, for the suggestions!! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 15, 2006 Good dramatic shot and the b&w crop shows how 'less is more' again especially when based on a good original idea. Link to comment
