Karl Schuler 48 Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks Umair, but you exagerate. And you prevent me from giving your photos the ratings they deserve. What about a photo shooting trip over the coming extended weekend with you, Ghulam and myself in and around Lahore? Karl Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 10, 2006 Great mountainscape, simple but strong composition, the diverging lines from the mountain peaks are just great. My only wish is more pure black tones in the shadows (perhaps a scanning issue) Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks Karsten for your professional comment. I have many times admired the way you master the smooth graduation from deep dark to clear light. I tried to go darker in this photo but then I lost details which are there and I wanted to see them. But I would be very interested to see with what you are able to come up when you play a bit with your calculation method, which I do not know what it is. Keep in touch. Karl Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 10, 2006 If this was color, I would like to play with channels/ calculations... This is just a handy method to try out various blending methods (like multiply, overlay, screen etc) on channels. For a comprehensive basis of possible channels (RGB, LAB, CMYK) I use the "TLR split channels" action, free from thelightrightstudio, one of the best sites for PS tips on the net, IMO You can split your color photo into various greyscale channels with that action, and then you have plenty of channel combinations to blend in PS with Image >> Calculations... For the sky in my last upload, for example, I used the red channel over the LAB lightness channel, in multiply blending mode, 100% opacity, with a curves adjustment layer on top (slight S curve for more midtone contrast and finetuning of shadows/ highlights). delp 0 Posted August 11, 2006 A nice image, with less impact than the previous one I have commented I think. Link to comment
awaraagard 0 Posted August 11, 2006 i don't exaggerate dear karl. " u must trust a compliment as much as u trust/ distrust a critique ", mentioned diego raveira, farida kahlo's [ great mexican painter ] husband. this is spectacular series of mountain photographs. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted August 11, 2006 Thanks Lionel and Umair. There are times I mistrust my trust in compliments ;-). Karl Link to comment
