Karl Schuler 48 Posted August 10, 2006 Jana and Maciej, thanks for your comments. The background is a thin cloud cover, driven over the ridge by the wind. Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted August 10, 2006 Karl, though it is the last I have commented on, it was the first that drew me to your portfolio. I thought about explaining in detail my thoughts on this photograph, but when I tried to do so, they seemed weak in comparison to how I felt about it. So, I'll simply say I like it very much. Is this a self portrait, or are you the photographer or being photographed by another in the group? If you haven't seen his photos already, you might be interested in the work of another mountaineer: http://www.photo.net/shared/community-member?user_id=265252 Link to comment
delp 0 Posted August 11, 2006 I buy into this one as well, because of the diffused light and the dramatic setup of the seracs. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted August 14, 2006 Dear all, thank you so much for your comments on this series of mountain photos. In fact I shot these photos in the late seventies and discovered the black and white negatives last week in a box. I never ordered prints of them. Probably after coming back from a long expedition to the Andies I did not have much money and I had other priorities. Perhaps also because at that age we were addicted to the vertical mountain faces and all what was flatter than this was not worth showing around ;-). This may also be a reason why I do not remember on which mountain I shot these photos. Moreover I am surprised to see that I have been there. Without these photos I would not remember it. After seeing this photo I googled Alexis who is in this photo and I found a person with his name and I sent him a mail. Today he wrote back. This was our first sign of life after more than 25 years. cherlyn 1 Posted August 14, 2006 Photos are such good reminders of our pst experiences, esp of travels. This is a nice pic composed diagonally. Inclusion of the man adds sense of scale to the mountains. I like it. Link to comment
