claire 0 Posted August 15, 2006 I know it's a sick sight, but is it a good photo, interesting and original? Link to comment
olof 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Interesting and a bit grouse... Catches the eye and makes You wonder. Needs a story to back it up in my point of view, - the light is a bit too hard. Link to comment
arnold de beer 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Gross but effective. What about some PS to bring out the colours even more - especially the reds of the blood and yellows of the beaks. Link to comment
jokeweier 0 Posted August 15, 2006 This is not a sick sight, but a good taken photo. Needs no story to back it up in my point of view. The light, that?s you choice. This is certainly no 3/3! This is life as it is. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 15, 2006 I agree the light is too hard. This might be a more effective shot if taken a little wider, using available light instead of the flash. I think the flash here has flattened out the details too much, and you've lost what might have been interesting textures and tones. Shadows in the pile could add a little mystery and abstractness to this, helping draw the viewer into the scene. Some surrounding elements could really make this interesting, especially if you could use this as a contrast to another element in the scene- but I don't know anything about the rest of the scene because all I see is a pile of chicken heads. alternately, I think a closer crop might also work better by filling the entire frame, cutting out the surface in the foreground which weakens the composition here in my opinion. Good luck. -e- Link to comment
jh de beer 0 Posted August 16, 2006 It's just gross, and not the good kind. Sorry. - JH - Link to comment
cfimages 0 Posted August 18, 2006 If I wasn't already a vegetarian, this shot would make me one. Sell it to PETA :-) Link to comment
claire 0 Posted August 19, 2006 Thank you for your comments. I will try to use PS to dull the light effect and crop the image. I would like to add, I didn't chop the heads off (!) and that I know the image is quite disgusting but this is "real life" photography and images do not always have to make you like them. However, I am glad it has formed a slight debate and made people think. Would it be better places in the documentary section? Link to comment
