I've always been intrigued by mother and child(ren) shots, be he/she a toddler or an infant. The bond between mother and child is so strong that there's no real need for a deliberate pose. The chemistry's always there. This shot, IMO, probably won't be as strongly composed had it been shot in colour. I like the use of B+W here. You deserve two thumbs up. OK! Now I'm going to check out the rest of your stuff... :)

Although I personally do not like photos of this genre, the composition is first rate and so is the lighting. It is one of the best photos of the "bare 9-month bellies" genre. The editors of the Boston Women's Health Collective would surely snatch this up for the next edition of *Our Bodies, Ourselves.* Try selling this to them and anything else you have if you haven't already done so.

The reason I give a relatively low originality rating is that I'm sick of hearing about how great pregnancy and child bearing and rearing are. I think the genre is overplayed, although the populace does not agree with me.

Wonderful shot John. I disagree with Kelly. The miracle of life can never be "overdone". This is a beautiful moment captured. This work reminds of a photgrapher out my way making 1500 sitting fees for doing things just like this. Email me if you want his name and website. I think you'd enjoy it. I could see this in with a whole series of before and after birth photos, but it's definitely a strong enough photo to stand alone. Great work!! Jen

Wow. This is just startlingly original and fantastic. Maybe if we could see just a bit more of the child's eyes.

I really like this shot. I will probably even "steal" this Idea when my now 6 month old son gets older and if we get pregnant again.
