aepelbacher 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Driving the Danish countryside, you can't look in any direction without seeing windmills somewhere on the horizon. I think it's wonderful ... a great step in the right direction. Maybe the U.S. could learn some lessons. :-) What do you think of the color of the sky? The placement of the mills? Link to comment

bentes_world 0 Posted August 7, 2006 As you say: again another typical sight in Denmark. Clouds, the blue sky being a little threatening and the sun shining on the wind mills. If it was mine I would have made a little more space in front of the mills on teh left side and less space on the right side and I'm not sure about the ? mill in the background. It ads to the depth but on the other hand it's taking too much attraction ... but again that's just me. Otherwise I think you have done another nice shot here and captured something typical and common from DK .... the clouds really have been nice to you Lou Ann(-;. I have quite a lot photos of 'my' windmill but my biggest wish is one that includes the moon ... sigh About the windmills I think there is an export of these to the US. In Denmark there is a discussion going on how big the mills are alowed to be built and where to place them because they are very noisy and the wings are making disturbing shadows and it's hard to find places for them where they are not a too bad sight in the landscape Link to comment
torfinn 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Good shot. Good colours and composition, but why 3? I see 4 of them. Congrats! Torfinn Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Thanks, again, for your comments, Bente. I was hoping that you would talk about the windmills, as you and I had a couple of conversations about them. I agree that the one in the distance is a distraction, and that there should be more space in front of the leftmost one. I took lots and lots and lots of shots of windmills, and this is the only one that I like even remotely. Soooo ... I will continue to play with the color and with the crop. Maybe I can even, very carefully, remove that distant one. And you're right - the clouds were good to me in several locations and not in several others. I've got shots of some gorgeous churches against not-so-gorgeous skies. Maybe, later today, I'll put up some of my less successful shots of other windmills in Denmark. (Yes, Torfinn, I was hoping that the viewer would concentrate on the three large ones, and that the farther one would fade into the distance.) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I've tried getting shots of this type of windmill, but have never been successful. I think your great sky helps make this shot a success. I would probably clone out that distant windmill. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 15, 2006 We are seeing more and more wind turbines in UK. Some large shopping centres and factories have them and there are plans to have a whole bunch of them n the North Sea. As said, the simplicity really heps the imapact here and I would also remove the distant one. Great sky. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted September 3, 2006 The light and colours are simply gorgeous in that picture. This is a great photographer's job! I think I agree about cloning out the fourth windmill in the background. The biggest three make a tremendous composition! Link to comment
