wogears 186 Posted October 9, 2006 Claire: The slaughter in Cambodia was obscene and incomprehensible. Like the genocide in Ruanda, it was of such a scale as to be mind-numbing. This--with the text--is a grisly reminder, but no more. Without anything for context, it misses the emotional effect I think you want it to have. It could be monks from the catacombs of Rome or Prague, or a medical waste heap in a third-world country. I don't know what to do about this. There needs to be context, or even contrast. What are the surroundings like? Is there a background? Link to comment
magnus3d1 0 Posted October 9, 2006 A cruel thing that happend :( but i believe that b/w with slightly boosted contrast would have brought out the emotions and feelings more than to use the image natural colorscheme. Keep up the good work! / Msgnus Link to comment
claire 0 Posted October 10, 2006 The Killing Fields, where this was taken, is quite literally fields with remains such as teeth and cloth jetting out of the ground. I have an image of the footpath with fabric showing through but it failed to capture the imagination of PN viewers (3/3!). These skulls were arranged on shelves as a memorial to those remains actually uncovered in the mass graves. Not much else around really! Thanks for your time and for givng some feedback Claire Link to comment
