Hi Len, long time ;-)) I think that it is a nice image. I like your crop, it looks like a "mother tree" protecting a soft child....Interesting color range of brown soil, green tree and yellow small one,all under the blue sky. nice nature, a bit poetic, and well seen. Greetings Pnina

Pnina, Thanks for your interesting take on this shot. I never thought of it in the way you describe. Perhaps, subconciously..........! The blue is in fact water with a heavy mist hanging over it, a reflection of the sky though I suppose! Stay safe! Best, LM.

Scanning technique is improving! Nice shadow details and soothing + balanced composition. Lovely!

Arthur, Nice of you to stop by. Yes, I'm getting the hang of the new scanner though it's more by trial & error than by the printed directions that came with it (Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II). They're not very user friendly especially to one who came kicking and screaming into the digital age :-). One of the factors that attracted me to this scene was the way the young maple broke up the mass of blue on the right. A keeper methinks! Best, LM.

Greg, Always an education to get a critique from you. Now I know what the other tree is. Don't think I'd have known a Hemlock if I'd tripped over it's roots:-) Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.

Spotted, first AM, while waiting for the mist to rise on Tea Lake,

Algonquin Park, Ont. If you were in my shoes how would you have

approached/delt with this scene? All opinions gratefully received.

Best, LM.

I would it give it a little tiny black stroke and after that frame it white. At list, the stroke should be done, I think., because there are too light parts which somehow leak outside if there isn't a stroke. I see it that way!

Len, I have something to show you, the first thumbnail on my community member page. Two clicks far away. It's my today's picture about the weird rating here! It might interest you!

See you there, Len!

Cheers!

Pierre, Thanks for taking the time. I agree, a bit of stroke would indeed help contain the image. Will take your advice. Since I think ratings are unproductive I neither give nor seek them. Your latest offering confirms my feelings :-) You've simply too many fine offerings to comment on at one time. I'll return. Best, LM.

You had to dig deep for this one. Many thanks for that & for your comment. This little maple was indeed the attraction. I wonder how it is doing today, almost 7 years later. Best, LM.

Len, in this capture you have showed the prodigious details and charismatic colours that Fuji Superia could deliver. Oh I always have the love of a film photo and I still have a can of Maple from Canada which I always hesitate to use it.

Good to have your visit.  Since I own about seven film cameras (got caught with my digital pants down) you are likely to run across more of these film offerings from me.  I do have the use of a digital Canon A540 P&S & the truth is it'll do as much as and even more than the abilities of my film cameras.  In fact I think about 50% of my work is produced with this little gem.  Still, like you, I love the potential of some films & enjoy working with them.  Best, LM.
