But where is this enchanting place, Ada? It looks as if straight oput of a fairy tale book: appealing and full of atmosphere.

Hi Paula, nice you drop by! This place isn't actually not so far from the place we live. It's situated in a famous amusement park called 'De Efteling'. It's built in 1950. In advance there was just a Teahouse and a playground and an area for pony rides. In 1952 the Fairy Tale Forest got opened with ten fairy tales like amongst others Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Frog Prince, the Magic Clock, the Chinese Nightingale etc.

In 1960 The house of Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother is built. Perhaps you've ever heard of 'Anton Pieck' Paula? He was a famous Dutch drawer and painter and he designed the Fairy Tale Park. Anno 2006 it's much more than only a Fairy Tale Forest. The Efteling has changed and expand with fantastic super fast roller coasters (my grandchildren are fond of those attractions) and lots of extra ordinary wonderful visions. One can spend a couple of days to visit them all. But it can not be fairy- and dream-like enough for me so I have tried to give an extra dose of mood to the scene of Little Red Riding Hood. Very clever transformation--looks like an old color movie effect, which is nice. Did you put 'Rotkaeppchen' in there, or was she just there?

Hai Ellen, 'terugdenken aan je kindertijd' jij zegt het en ik voel het net zo. Ik vind het altijd fijn om te horen dat mijn werkjes bij anderen persoonlijk herinneringen oproepen. Wat was het toch heerlijk om kind te zijn. Ik vergeet nooit mijn eerste bezoek aan de Efteling. Het was met een schoolreisje. Wat een ervaring. Als ik nu in de Efteling kom met mijn kleinkinderen dan doen we altijd nog even een rondje Sprookjesbos voordat we de allernieuwste attracties ingaan. Het gekke is dat na al die jaren en zovele bezoeken dat 'oude stukje' Efteling mij blijft bekoren. Maar toch is het in mijn herinnering nog net even iets geheimzinner en sprookjesachtig dan ik het nu ervaar. Logisch natuurlijk. Om toch die overweldigende sfeer van toen weer helemaal te laten herleven en te ondergaan dan maar de fantasie erop losgelaten. En het gevoel van toen was er bij mij weer helemaal. En dan hoop je dat anderen daar ook in mee kunnen delen. Nou Ellen, uit jouw commentaar blijkt dus dat ik in mijn opzet ben geslaagd. Dank je wel nogmaals en lieve groetjes van grootmoeder;-0))

 

Thank you so much Denise for your great comment and compliment. I have browsed through your portfolio and I can tell you: that was a real surprising experience! You have stunning work (your flower folder wow) and that is the cause that I feel very honoured by your words of appreciation for my work. My skilness of PS is actually pretty poor but I'm still learning. My longing to keep distance (now and then) from the harshness of the daily reality are the mainspring to create fairy tale moods. In the relative short time I'm interested in the art of photography I've discovered that my heart loses to the branch of creating illustrations and fairy tale-like images.
