ottoiris 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I would like the image better with just the goal post. The man in the foreground is a little confusing. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 1, 2006 Thanks for your comment. Perhaps you are right. He was meant to represent those who are disengaged and are viewers but not participants. The headphones tune out the outside world, and they form a cocoon within which to live. Based on the ratings, it was a bit less than a resounding success. Maybe others felt as you do. Thanks for looking. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Hey cool where is that road at? Is there really a goal post in the middle of it? This image reminds me of that song called Jesus drop kicked me through the goal post of life...er something like that...well any ways...I was wondering how I would feel about this image if the guy was wearing something else? like a jersy...doctors coat...ambulance driver uniform....or hot pants? Pretty fun big guy.. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 2, 2006 Is there really a song called "Jesus Drop Kicked Me THrough the Goalpost of Life?" If there is, I might decide to use that for the title. You can see how much the other photonetters liked this and the Marie one. Good thing my ego is able to withstand the crappy ratings. Actually, I'm not crazy about this pic. It is lacking something, and I haven't quite figured out what, but when I do, I will add it in. Oh, I know! It needs, a butterfly, a sunset, a flower, and a dog! Coming right up. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! tomswift46 0 Posted August 11, 2006 I like the existential feel without the goal post...the man bent over with headphones is a very strong image and the road ahead goes on and on but he doesn't notice...there is no goal, the goal post is illusory...if you are very attached to the goal post you could try and layer it in much lighter like vapor... Thank you very much for your comment...I think the ratings on this site are interesting but I don't know what they mean..it's all so subjective... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 11, 2006 Thanks for looking and especially for expressing an opinion. I do not much diagree with you. Frankly, I don't think the whole image worked very well. It just never quite gelled for me. I thought about adding a football at just the point where it was about to smack the guy on the head, but never did it. Link to comment
jon_r__austin__tx_ 0 Posted March 6, 2007 I think the "Drop Kick me Jesus Through the Goal Posts of Life" song was a Janis Joplin tune. Also a humorous song. What is the discoloration on the road from the human's left? Is it an area that still needs to be cloned out? Well done. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted March 6, 2007 That discoloration is a tennis court that I placed into the scene. I can see how you might not be able to tell. Thanks for looking and commenting. Link to comment
maggies 0 Posted June 25, 2008 I seem to disagree with everyone including you. I find your existential scenes highly imaginitive and this is my favorite. I like the solidity of the man faced with the illusory goalpost. Perhaps the only mistake you made was in the title. I see it as Nowhere to Go because the goal IS so illusory. bosshogg 4 Posted June 25, 2008 I cannot gainsay your interpretation. It certainly has plausibility. I'm grateful for your thoughts. Interestingly enough, this did not exactly garner rave reviews. I think it has at least three 3/3s. I don't let that bother me too much most of the time, and certainly not in the case of an image as highly manipulated as this. Cheers Link to comment
