IMO this one is better then the collored version which looks a little artificial for me - especially the foreground. It would have been absoluteley perfect for me if the boy in the back would have been better visible...

But it is still a #1 shot!

Congratulations... alex

Very good Huy,i like the composition, the guy is not necessary to be in the photo if he is not noticeable .

I have to say that this photo looks a little odd to me - as though muddy water was spilt over a good print. The variations in shadow and light look artificial, perhaps overly contrived

I apologise if this all seems negative, but I guess critique means saying what you really think.

regards

Mike

Thank you for your comment, Mike. I really appreciate it, and you absolutely have the rights to state your opinions whether they are negatives or positves (I truly appreciate both). No need to appologize whatsoever. BTW, I did place this under Digital Alterations, and it is. There is so much to learn in PS, and I'm just a beginer, so hopefully I'd get a bit better someday.

Great choice of subjects but I feel like this is a little extreme in the "chiaroscuro" (light-dark) interplay, noticeably in some unusual places. I applaud your overall execution and evidently it has been well received as is too. But find it a little jarring in terms of my own sensibilities for such extremes in light-dark contrast.

I like this because it is different, especially the colours and the lighting. Very good emotivie image. Would you mind explaining how you achieved these colours as I would like to learn.

Thank you all for your opinions.

D, if you use PS, you can try these: decrease satuation, decrease brighness/contrast and adjust color balance as needed (I increase green, a bit of red and yellow for this photo), and adjust level as needed. For the .tif version or large size image, you can use unsharp mask, but for .jpg or smaller size image, use sharpen edge. Please let me know if that works.

The PS work looks a little heavy handed to me. So much so, I think the manipulatioin detracts from a fairly nice image. The biggest detractor is burning done around the edges - looks way overdone. Cheers!
