Guest Guest Posted July 26, 2006 Going against the grain here, I like this one as much as the color version. Though, it has a completely different mood. This one has a more abstract feel to it. It's the scratchy lines of the masts against the smooth sky that intrigues me. I'm thinking in this version, even less of the water in the foreground might be an option. My only nit is that little thing on the left edge of the frame, about in the middle, trying to muscle it's way in. It's very small but commands attention. Link to comment
nirakara 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I thought it was Westport, CT. Looks like more people like the color version. I like this one more than the color. Lets me focus more on the ships and it would go nicely on a wall too. I like the comp. as it is now but Laurie's idea of having even less of the fg here is good too. Since there isn't much reflection in most of the areas, you wouldn't lose much either. Chitra Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 28, 2006 Thanks for the comments. Laurie, you're absolutely right about the nit on the left side. I'll also think about your crop. Chitra, thanks for your comments. I made a small test print of this version and it printed fairly well. Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted August 28, 2006 I like both versions, but find the color one more compelling. Laurie is right about the prominence of the masts in the B/W (Laurie is almost always right); in the color version it is the colored hulls that command attention. They are different photos with different moods. Both are cool. Link to comment
