aepelbacher 0 Posted July 24, 2006 One more shot from France. I had set aside a day to visit Normandy. I should have set aside THREE days. Going to Normandy to visit the museum and the cemetery and the beaches was an amazing and very emotional experience for me. I firmly believe that EVERY American ought to make a pilgrimage at some time during their lives to spend a couple of days visiting Normandy. There is no other way to truly gain an understanding of what truly happened there that day in 1944. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted July 25, 2006 I love that one little flag. That makes the whole shot. Great. Link to comment
gordon_logue 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I just looked at your ratings. Ignore these low rating jerks. This is a great shot. Oh, Normandy is in France, I think. ciao Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 26, 2006 OOohhh - thanks, Gordon - I just changed the location & the date of the photograph. I was completely off. :-) I tend to overlook the ratings ... I'm happy with this ... although I might go back and play with the grass a bit to make it a bit brighter. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I think this image might have some special meaning considering the current world situation. How fast we forget. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 28, 2006 I have visited a number of war cemeteries and always find them moving. You have caught the atmosphere well with the repeated crosses making a strong impact and the depth of field picking out the one with the flag left as a persoanl tribute. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Very effective DOF, Lou Ann, as mentioned. This one has strong emotional impact. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted August 4, 2006 I'm partial to memorials like this, having been in the military. Very moving tribute you've made here. The lone flag moves me as well...so often we are so busy in our lives that we forget what has come before or even what is happening now, but there is always someone who remembers, who can never forget. Thanks! Leslie Link to comment
