For me, the angles and colors are great, DOF appears a little too shallow however. The downside of increasing the DOF would be a longer exposure, tones would change and the light in the shop would be way too bright. So, all in all it's very pleasing to me, good job.

Uitstekend werk!

Groetjes, Ada:)

I like to thank you very much for your kind comment to my portfolio. I really appreciate it that you took the time to watch my work. I thought that the South-African language and the Dutch are almost the same and that is why I have written my previous comment in Dutch. I have not any problem to read your native language. I understand each word of it. But it is possible that the Dutch language has renewed itself during the ages. Perhaps it contains words which do not exists in South African. To make quite sure that you will understand what I have written in my previous Dutch comment, I will try to give you the translation of it in English (as far as I'm able to explain my thoughts in that language because my knowledge of it is quite poor). I really don't know which one of the two will be the most understandable for you. But I will do a try. Here we go:

Beautiful picture full of atmosphere which radiates a miraculous pleasing mood. I don't know what it is; the warm light, the soft colours, the calm. This picture has something in it that makes it very difficult to explain in words. I can keep looking at it and I undergo the permanent sensation that something can happens here any moment; that somebody suddenly will step out the decor; that the cartwheel will start to roll all by itself. This scene could be the beginning of a movie. I'm really very impressed by this lovely image. Outstanding work!

In a nutshell: This peacefull almost serene scene holds a promise. It can't stay like it is. Perhaps it's only my imagination but I feel some kind of elusive tense that will recharge itself just after the moment I have turned my eyes away. I'm sure it will and that is what keeps me looking. I don't want to miss that moment because it will be the beginning of a fascinating story. It's still a mystery to me which element in this picture is responsable for the deep impression that this picture makes on me.

I'm sure I will come back to this picture very often to watch it speechless and without leaving any further comment;)

Thank you very much JH for making this wonderful shot.

Many greetings, Ada.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I am so glad that you like this scene so much. I want to rush out and go and try different angles and views and light to either improve, or tell the rest of the story. And maybe I should not do that....leave it be as they say. The magic is obviously in this one moment.

Your comments are insightful and obviously a wonderful incentive to go out and try to capture more magic moments. Thank again. Your friend in photography. JH

PS: I understand most of what you wrote in Dutch, it was just one word I couldn't make out. But I have a friend who speaks it fluently, so don't worry. And please, should I be able to hold your attention again one day with another image, and you feel inclined, leave your thoughts in Dutch. It is a beautiful language, like Afrikaans. (My taal is my trots).
