aepelbacher 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Okay, this is the fourth and last in the short series of playing in the water here at the London City Hall. I just couldn't split up these two photos. These two kids were having such a great time. She, acting like she didn't want to get wet (she already was), and he, knowing that he's stronger was determined to put her in the water. You can see him in the first image picking her up (her feet are off the ground), and then while she was thrashing around he gently laid her down on top of the fountains, and then I got the second shot. Photographically, Julius gave me an idea for an approach to B&W conversion that I haven't tried before, and I like it ... so that's what I used for both of these shots. Thank you Julius!!! :-) Secondly, I wasn't sure how to best include both images in one upload, especially given that one is vertical and one is horizontal in orientation. So I thought that making them look like snapshots in a photo album would work ... add a little frame to each, put them on a colorful background, rotate one a little ... and, voila. I'm still not sure it works. Also, I am aware that there are some hot spots, especially in the water. They don't really bother my eye. How about yours? Any thoughts or comments or versions that you have would be greatly appreciated! Link to comment
bjornbehr 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Lou Ann You did well presenting these two as you did. I comes across very nicelyThis has been a lovely, fun series. ThanksBjorn Link to comment
mlh273 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I really like the image of the boy holding the girl tightly in the "before" image. I'll try some different crops when I get home and see what they look like... Assuming I don't forget between now and then. Memory gets thin in my old age. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Thanks, Matt. It's nice to see you making the time (ah hem) to comment again. Maybe you'll even upload an image or two of your own. :-) Here's the original, so you can play all you want. Link to comment
Jebamony 3 Posted July 20, 2006 Lou Ann, you picked a great way to present two different orientations. I am glad you liked the B/W conversion method. Link to comment
mlh273 0 Posted July 21, 2006 What can I say, I go in phases... I really haven't taken any new pictures recently, just the wedding ones. I'm not sure why I just haven't been as active with the camera lately. I think I am just pining over the camera yet to be purchased... ;) As for the crop, like I said before I was a big fan of just the contact between these two. I cropped with space to the right because of the way the boy is looking and I wanted to get rid of that bench and guy sitting on it that was too the left. I also tried to brighten up some of the lowlights by adjusting the levels and then burning in some of the spots that seemed a little blown out (foreheads mostly) What do you think? The only thing I can see that might be missing would be the Abercrombie advertisement... Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 21, 2006 I really like it, Matt! I especially like how you brightened their faces. Thanks for spending some time on it. I guess that my emotional ownership was with the fountains at their feet because I watched this whole thing play out from beginning to end ... it was so much fun to see them having so much fun. Go ... take pictures. :-) Link to comment
